Here is what I am Liking, Loving and Loathing this week!

Liking:

Soundgarden’s New Song ‘Been Away Too Long’- They have been away too long. Their new song is well produced and performed, which is why im liking it. It just doesn’t have that wow factor like Black Hole Sun and Pretty Noose had on me when I first heard them. Maybe I’ll grow to love it.

The Price Is Right Gets A Male Model- Rob Wilson was selected by both the show’s producers and by fans as the first ever male model for the show since they began having them (a.k.a the Barker’s Beauties) in 1972. While this is really cool, it will only be for a week. You can see his debut October 15th if you want to watch!

Loving:

The Rock N Roll Hall of Fame 2013 Induction Nominees- I’m really loving the fact that so many female acts are nominated this year: Heart, Donna Summer (who should’ve got in last year in my opinion), Joan Jett & the Blackhearts and the Marvellettes! There are not nearly enough females inducted and I’m really hoping more than one of these talented acts will be inducted in 2013. My top Induction picks from this years list: Heart, Chic (looong over due!), Donna Summer, Rush, Deep Purple, Albert King and Randy Newman. People will argue Newman with me, but whatever, I don’t care. So, who are you rooting for? http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/vote-for-the-2013-rock-and-roll-hall-of-fame-inductees-20121004

Drew Barrymore has a baby!- I have been a huge fan of Drew Barrymore since, well E.T. came out. But she officially became one of my shero’s in the early 90s with her short hair, tattoo’s, wild-child flashing Letterman and really good movies like Boys On the Side and Mad Love. So I’m über-ecstatic that the Barrymore legacy is going to live on with the birth of Olive Barrymore Kopelman! I’m also loving the fact she named her baby Olive.

Entertainment Weekly’s Annual Reunion Issue- My heart fluttered with joy seeing so many of my favorite casts reunited in this special double issue. Clueless, Melrose Place, E.T., Arrested Development & more! If you love nostalgia as much as I do then go pick up an issue immediately. And thank you Luke Hackenberg for the reminder!

Women Sticking Up For Themselves- This past week Jennifer Livingston, Morning Anchor for WKBT-TV in La Crosse, Wisconsin addressed viewers regarding a letter a male viewer wrote her regarding her weight. She took this opportunity to not only call the viewer out on his ignorance, but to promote that October was National Anti-Bullying Month, and advised parents to be careful how they conducted themselves around their children so they didn’t pass on negative lessons. I watched her speech and was moved to tears by her grace and honesty. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/10/02/jennifer-livingston-anchor-obesity-letter_n_1932869.html?utm_hp_ref=mostpopular

Loathing:

Planned Parenthood/MTV Voices promoting the word SLUT- I found out about this recent video and article thanks to Jane.TV (and its amazing founder, my shero Jackie Dorman). I agree women have to unfairly deal with the double standard that men are stud and women are sluts if they have many partners, but I don’t believe we should be promoting the word SLUT as a positive thing. This is not the message we should be sending young women. http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2012/09/25/Planned-Parenthood-slut

Mitt Romney Hates Big Bird- Mittons wants to get rid of PBS. Yes, because PBS is America’s number one issue right now. Even worse? Rick Santorum (who I already thought was ridiculous) not only agrees with Romney, but says “You can kill things and still like them.” You have GOT to be kidding me. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/10/05/rick-santorum-big-bird_n_1942119.html
